About "Transit of Venus"
It has been since 1882 that people have seen a transit of venus, that is venus as it crosses the disc of the sun. Before deep space probes existed, there used to be large expeditions that would go to observe this phenomenon. It use to be the only way of measuring distances in the solar system. This year's transit occurred on June 8. The image above is how the transit appears to those lucky enough to view it during a cloudy evening's sunset.
