Local Artist Accepted into Ironstone Vineyards "A Spring Obsession" Professional Art Competition.
February 1, 2004 - Local Artist, Julie Rodriguez Jones of San Pablo, California, has been accepted into the annual Ironstone Vineyards "A Spring Obsession" Professional Art Competition and Sale. Once accepted, original works will compete for a part of the $1750.00 prize money in the Open division or the Ironstone Purchase Award in the Theme Division. All selected art will go on display opening weekend of the Spring Obsession Event, March 20 & 21, 2004. Awards will be announced to the public at the Saturday evening Winner Circle Dinner Saturday evening, March 20, 2004. All accepted works will be on display for public viewing and sale through Mothers Day Weekend.
Artist's Statement
When colors merge and forms take shape, it is an experience of God's presence and my soul sings when I create. I am passionately drawn to the creative process, I have made time to pursue, in my middle years, this love which had lain idle too long. I have progressed from general interests in drawing to combining various media to produce images of opposite scale, astronomy and the garden. The images I create are often from my imagination, based on natural or known phenomena or objects-be it flowers such as in "Endangered" or supernovae as in "Ringed Planet." May you look at the world and what is above with illumination.
A Spring Obsession is one of the region's premier celebrations that draws thousands of visitors and participants from around the world for a weekend of activities, including a professional chefs competition, the juried art exhibition and sale and an internationally recognized daffodil show that showcases over 100,000 daffodils in full bloom throughout the winery's facilities and gardens.
